The Sundance software defined radio (SDR) 'baseband' developers' platform is the new generation of applicationspecific programming kits from Sundance.

SDR 4.0 is a modular digital radio architecture system built around a scalable multiprocessor architecture based on a matrix of Xilinx Virtex-5 FPGA nodes, embedded PowerPC440 and multiple C6455 DSP processors.

Intermediate frequency manipulations are handled by two data acquisition and waveform generator channels, each featuring dual 8-bit, 1000MSPS digitizers, and dual 14-bit 1000MSPS D/A converters.

SDR 4.0 is customizable and the development platform has a variety of communication ports: USB 2.0 and Gigabit Ethernet for remote network re-configurations.

Features:

  • Dual 8-bit, 1000MSPS A/D
  • Dual 14-bit, 1000MSPS D/A
  • External synchronization
  • Virtex-5 and Virtex-4 FPGAs
  • Two 1GHz C6455 DSPs
  • USB 2.0, Gigabit Ethernet
  • Customizable I/O signals
  • Standalone platform
